As a Certified Fitness Nutrition Coach who helps people struggling with weight loss change their eating habits, I know all too well that it takes more than goal setting to actually achieve your goals. It takes action. That action often comes in the form of making an initial investment in the tools you use in your kitchen. When you invest in the right kitchen gadgets you not only can reduce the time you spend in the kitchen, but you can optimize your ability to lose weight. What to Invest In!
Slow Cooker - Do not let the name fool you. A slow cooker is one of the smartest investments you can make when you don’t have much time to spend in the kitchen or you want a meal ready to eat when you come home from work. When I worked overnight shift a slow cooker was my key to making delicious home cooked meals without having to man the kitchen. All I had to do was chop up some veggies, season some meat, throw it in the slow cooker with a little water, set the timer and wait until my meal was ready to eat. If you’re looking to do the same, invest in a slow cooker today.
Cast-Iron Skillet - I never understand why my grandmother loved cast-iron skillets until I realized that you can take meals from the stove to the oven (and vice versa). The ability to make roasts, pies and even fried chicken in the same skillet means that you don’t need to make a large investment in a cookware set (even though I think you should). If you prefer the minimalist life and you want something that cleans fairly easily a cast-iron skillet is a way to go.
Bake N’ Store Set - Now if you’re anything like me you love the simplicity of being able to meal prep and store your food in a matter of minutes. That’s why having a bake and store set is one investment that you hands down have to get. It just makes sense in addition to it being an easy way to transport foods with you when you’re on the go.
With different size containers available you can easily bake a mini lasagna or chicken pot pie, and store it in your fridge in minutes. Definitely, a male prepping time saver that’s well worth the investment.
Food Processor - From pureeing soup to shredded lettuce a food processor is one of the most versatile and must have tools that you need in your kitchen. Not only will you be able to save time dicing up your veggies, but you’ll be able to mix up some dessert.
Blender - What would a kitchen be without a blender? Whether you’re mixing up a fruit smoothie or chopping up some nuts a blender is an investment that truly keeps on giving.
