Yum, A Recipe for Fruit Our Favorite Fruit and Kale Smoothie

I believe the first step to self-care and wellness is actually honoring you and your needs and not living up to the idea or expectations of what is deemed socially acceptable. When I began my wellness journey it was less about trends or what was popular, but more about what resonated with my mind, body, and spirit. I experimented A LOT!!! Ultimately, my goal was to do what was best for me on my personal journey.

If you’re anything like me, you consume your first meal of the day by drinking it. If prepared nutritiously, with healthy ingredients a smoothie can actually be the best way to get your necessary allowance of fruits and veggies in one day. So, naturally, it has become a lot easier for me to blend what I need and have it on the go.

My favorite smoothie for some time now has been a kale-apple smoothie. My love for kale was a random out of nowhere move for me. But since I am big on fruit, I experimented and decided to see what would happen if I blended kale and my favorite fruits. I have a single serving of this smoothie about 3-4 times a week. 

Just add your ingredients and blend until you have a great texture. If you’re looking for new methods to get healthy in the new year, I strongly encourage giving green smoothies a try. They’ve changed my life and help to raise my vibrations. It’s worth the blend. Below are ingredients for a single serving, adjustments can be made to serve more.

½ large green apple, chopped

½ banana, chopped

A cup of leaves of kale. (Be sure that the ribs and stems removed.)

1/2 cup of spinach

1 cup of strawberries

1 teaspoon lemon juice

Cup of ice

I sometimes add a few drops of agave nectar for flavoring but it is totally optional. When I have time, I peel and slice a few kiwi to have on the side.
